If you are vegan and planning to go to Bali, chances are the place that will be on the top of your list is fabulous Ubud. Even for non-vegans, Ubud is the place to be. The small town is surrounded by beautiful rice fields and green forests. Monkeys, temples, colourful flower offerings, markets, art, small boutique shops and the smell of burning incense are what makes Ubud so wonderful . Don’t forget, of course, the variety of delicious vegan food!
After 4 days of eating our way around Ubud, we left only to return a week later to eat some more. It really is that good. There is so much choice, whether you like raw, cooked, western or Indonesian food – Ubud has it all.
Here is our top 3 places to get yummy vegan food in Ubud:
1 – Alchemy 🌿
Alchemy is the first 100% raw vegan cafe to open in Bali. It definitely has the best raw food we have ever tasted. They also have an organic health food store and holistic clinic. The presentation of their food is absolutely insta-worthy.
2 – Beloved Earth Cafe 🌿
3 – Earth Cafe & Market 🌿
Earth Cafe is a vegetarian & vegan restaurant with 6 branches across Bali. They have a huge amount of choice, especially when it comes to desserts! They also have Earth Markets which have a huge array of vegan products. I especially like their vegan inspired quotes that decorate their stores:
”Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
Shopping for vegan products in Ubud is extremely easy. There are lots of health food stores where you can buy snacks, toiletries and make-up. The town is very eco friendly with recyling bins everywhere and refill water stations. It is a great place to go if you love nature, art, or spirituality; or if you practice yoga and meditation.
Finding vegan food in other parts of Bali was also very easy. Although there wasn’t as much choice for restaraunts like Ubud, places often served vegetarian or vegan dishes so there was always something for us to eat. Nasi goreng (fried rice), gado-gado (rice & veg with a peanut sauce) and tahu isi (fried tofu) are all popular dishes that can be found all over Bali.💛
