Who would have thought that Hong Kong would be so great for vegan food!? There is now 19 all-vegan restaurants in the busy city, which has doubled in just 1 year. Many vegetarian places also serve all-vegan dishes. Making vegan friends in the city is also super easy thanks to the weekly ”Meat Free” meetups. This is a great way to try delicious vegan food at lots of different restaurants and make friends at the same time.
As there is so much choice, I have chosen my top 5 that you don’t want to miss if you are ever in the city.
1 – Veggie S.F – 10/F, 11 Stanley Street, Central
This 1950’s San Francisco themed restaurant has got the best burgers in Hong Kong (in my opinion!) But if you don’t fancy burgers, don’t worry because there is lots of other yummy options available, like the All Day Breakfast.
2 – Veggle Cafe – G13A & 15, E-plaza, 7 Shing Yip St, Kwun Tong
Veggle Cafe, which just opened this year, is a bit further out from Central compared to other restaurants. The journey is definitely worth it just to have their sweet potato fries with sour cream dip – so good!
3 – Pure Veggie House – 3/F, Coda Plaza, 51 Garden Rd, Central
Pure Veggie House is well known for its dim sum and huge hot pots. It’s a great place to come if you want some healthy chinese food with no msg.
4 – Thai Vegetarian – 28 Nam Kok Rd, Kowloon City, Hong Kong
This very small restaurant makes some of the best Thai food ever! Luckily everything is all vegan and made with no garlic, leek, onion, shallot, or spring onion.
5 – CS Vegan – 1/F, Potek House, 9 Tsing Fung St, Tin Hau
C.S Vegan is a non-profit, all-you-can-eat buffet style restaurant offering very cheap but tasty Chinese food. There is an abundance of options here and it’s a great place to come if you like to eat mock meat and vegetables.
Happy eating! 🍜
